Apple Watch Introduces Sick Day Function in WatchOS 11

Apple has answered the call of Apple Watch users with the introduction of a long-awaited sick day function in WatchOS 11, unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). This highly requested feature allows users to pause their activity rings without jeopardizing their streaks, providing much-needed flexibility during times of illness or injury.

Previously, users faced the dilemma of either manually decreasing their activity goals or risking the loss of their streaks if they stopped activity altogether. With the new sick day function, users can easily opt-out of activity goals for a day, week, month, or longer, ensuring that their health takes precedence without fear of losing their hard-earned achievements.

Expected to launch later this year, WatchOS 11 also introduces the innovative Vitals app, which monitors key health metrics such as heart rate and respiratory rate. When two or more metrics indicate physiological stress or illness, the Vitals app notifies users, empowering them to make informed decisions about pausing their activity rings and prioritizing their well-being.

As Apple continues to enhance the health and wellness capabilities of the Apple Watch, the introduction of the sick day function in WatchOS 11 underscores the company’s commitment to supporting users in maintaining a balanced and sustainable approach to fitness and health.
