Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces cabinet approval for eight railway projects and a Rs 1,766 crore Clean Plant Programme aimed at enhancing infrastructure and transforming India’s horticulture sector.
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Union Cabinet‘s approval of eight new railway line projects, marking a significant boost to India’s infrastructure. The approved projects span seven states—Odisha, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Telangana, and West Bengal—and will impact 14 districts. With an estimated total cost of Rs 2,657 crore, these railway lines are expected to be completed by 2030-31. The initiative aims to improve connectivity, enhance travel ease, and contribute to reduced oil imports and lower carbon dioxide emissions.
During the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Modi also highlighted the approval of the Clean Plant Programme (CPP), a groundbreaking initiative with an outlay of Rs 1,766 crore. The CPP is designed to transform India’s horticulture sector by promoting the cultivation of healthier and higher-quality plants. Modi emphasized that the programme represents a major step forward in improving plant quality and supporting agricultural advancements.
Additionally, the amendment to the Pradhan Mantri JI-VAN Yojana was discussed, which seeks to boost India’s self-reliance and enhance energy security. The amendments are part of the government’s broader efforts to support sustainable development and energy independence.
