NEET UG 2024 results reveal 17 students with perfect scores of 720 as NTA announces final rankings following Supreme Court’s decision on grace marks.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has unveiled the final results for the NEET-UG 2024, highlighting 17 students who achieved a perfect score of 720. These top achievers represent the pinnacle of this year’s medical entrance exam, which saw a massive participation of 24,06,079 registered candidates, with 23,33,297 actually taking the test.
Initially, the All India Rank 1 was shared by 67 students, but this number was revised down to 17 after the withdrawal of grace marks and a retest involving 1,563 students. This adjustment followed a Supreme Court ruling that required the NTA to withdraw grace marks for a disputed Physics question, significantly affecting the rankings.
The results showed a strong presence from Rajasthan and Maharashtra among the top scorers. The top four ranks were secured by students from Rajasthan, while Maharashtra claimed the next three positions. Other states also featured in the top ranks, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, West Bengal, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, each having at least one top scorer.
Of the total candidates, 11,65,334 scored between 720 and 162 marks. A closer look at the demographics reveals that out of 10,29,198 male registrants, 9,98,205 appeared for the exam, and 5,46,566 qualified. Similarly, out of 13,76,863 female registrants, 13,34,940 took the exam, with 7,69,277 qualifying. Among the 18 third-gender candidates, 17 appeared, and 10 qualified.
The most popular language choice for the exam was English, with 18,92,413 candidates opting for it, followed by Hindi with 3,57,924 registrations.
This year’s NEET UG results come after a detailed review mandated by the Supreme Court, which addressed concerns over a Physics question that initially had two correct answers according to the NTA. This decision led to a recalibration of scores and a reshuffling of the top ranks.
The announcement of the final results underscores the intense competition and high stakes of the NEET UG exam, with these 17 students standing out for their perfect scores and exemplary performance. Their achievements set a new benchmark for future aspirants and reflect the rigorous preparation and dedication required to excel in one of India’s most challenging entrance exams.
