N Chandrababu Naidu, the president of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh today, June 12, in a grand ceremony at Kesarapalli IT Park near Gannavaram airport in Vijayawada. The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top BJP leaders.
Naidu’s new cabinet includes 24 ministers, with significant representation from key allies. The Jana Sena Party, led by Pawan Kalyan, secured three ministerial berths, including the Deputy Chief Minister’s post for Kalyan. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), another ally, was allocated one ministerial position.
Among the Jana Sena Party leaders inducted into the cabinet are Nadendla Manohar and Kandula Durgesh, while Satya Kumar Yadav represents the BJP. The cabinet, notable for its diversity, includes 17 newcomers, with representation from various communities: three women, eight Backward Class leaders, two Scheduled Castes, one Scheduled Tribe, and one Muslim member.
Nara Lokesh, Naidu’s son, also took a ministerial oath. Additionally, two former YSR Congress leaders, Anam Ramnarayana Reddy and Kolusu Parthasarathy, were inducted into the cabinet.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the TDP, achieved a landslide victory in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, securing 164 of the 175 seats. The TDP won 135 out of the 144 seats it contested, while the Jana Sena Party won all 21 seats it contested, and the BJP won eight out of 10 seats. The incumbent YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) managed to secure only 11 seats.
