Major Power Outage Hits Delhi After Fire at Uttar Pradesh Sub-Station

A blaze at a sub-station in Mandola, Uttar Pradesh, sets off a significant power outage across multiple parts of Delhi, leaving residents grappling with disruptions in electricity supply.

Delhi Power Minister Atishi confirmed that the power disruption, beginning at 2:11 pm, stemmed from a fire incident at the sub-station of the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) in Mandola, Uttar Pradesh. With Delhi reliant on 1200 MW of power from the affected sub-station, the impact of the outage spread across various areas of the capital city.

Efforts to restore power swiftly commenced, with engineers working diligently to address the technical issues. Atishi assured residents that electricity was gradually returning to affected localities, alleviating concerns over prolonged disruptions.

Expressing deep concern over the incident, Atishi called for urgent discussions with the Central Power Minister and the Chairman of PGCIL to address the root causes of the grid failure. The outage primarily affected eastern and central parts of Delhi, prompting authorities to expedite restoration efforts.
